এমাং দ্য ইয়ূথ’ শীর্ষক প্রকল্পের আওতায় কক্সবাজারের উখিয়াতে মাদকবিরোধী
সচেতনতা বৃদ্ধিমূলক কার্যক্রম শুরু করলো ঢাকা আহ্ছানিয়া মিশন। বুধবার (২০
সেপ্টেম্বর) সকালে উখিয়াযর পাল্স বাংলাদেশ সোসাইটি ট্রেনিং এন্ড রিসোর্স
সেন্টারে প্রকল্পটির উদ্বোধনী অনুষ্ঠিত হয়।জাতিসংঘের ড্রাগস অ্যান্ড ক্রাইম অফিস (ইউএনওডিসি) এবং মাদকদ্রব্য
নিয়ন্ত্রণ অধিদপ্তর (ডিএনসি) এর সহযোগিতায় প্রকল্পটি উখিয়ার নির্বাচিত ৫
টি স্কুলে বাস্তবায়িত হবে।প্রকল্পের উদ্বোধনী সভায় প্রধান অতিথি হিসেবে উপস্থিত ছিলেন, মাদক দ্রব্য
নিয়ন্ত্রণ অধিদপ্তর (ডিএনসি) কক্সবাজার জেলা উপ-পরিচালক মোঃ রুহুল আমিন।
সভায় বিশেষ অতিথি হিসেবে উপস্থিত ছিলেন উপজেলা একাডেমিক সুপারভাইজার মোঃ
বদরুল আলম ও উপজেলা যুব উন্নয়ন কর্মকর্তা মোঃ আইয়ুব আলী।ঢাকা আহ্ছানিয়া মিশনের মাদকবিরোধী সচেতনতামূলক কার্যক্রমকে স্বাগত জানিয়ে
ডিএনসি’র কক্সবাজার জেলা উপ-পরিচালক রুহুল আমিন বলেন, এই কার্যক্রমের সাথে
মাদকদ্রব্য নিয়ন্ত্রণ অধিদপ্তর সম্পৃক্ত হয়ে একযোগে কাজ করে যাবে। এই
কার্যক্রমের ফলে পারিবারিক দক্ষতা কর্মসূচি গ্রহণের মাধ্যমে বাবা-মা ও
অভিভাবক পর্যায়ে সচেতনতা বাড়বে। এর মাধ্যমে তারা পরিবার তথা কমিউনিটি
পর্যায়ে মাদকবিরোধী সচেতনতা কার্যক্রমে অবদান রাখতে সক্ষম হবে। পাশাপাশি
ছাত্র-ছাত্রীরা দলগতভাবে নিজেরা ও সমবয়সীদেরকে সক্ষম করার মাধ্যমে
মাদকবিরোধী কার্যক্রমে সম্পৃক্ত হবে এবং কমিউনিটিকে সচেতন করতে ভূমিকা
রাখবে।
অনুষ্ঠানে ঢাকা আহ্ছানিয়া মিশন স্বাস্থ্য সেক্টরের প্রকল্প সমন্বয়কারী মোঃ
শরিফুল ইসলাম তার স্বাগত বক্তব্যে বলেন, উখিয়া সীমান্ত শহর হওয়ায় মাদক
পাচার ও অপব্যবহারের জন্য একটি ঝুঁকিপূর্ণ এলাকা। সম্প্রতি এই এলাকায়
‘ক্রিস্টাল আইসনামের সিন্থেটিক ওষুধের সবচেয়ে বড় চালান বাজেয়াপ্ত করেছে
আইন প্রয়োগকারী সংস্থা। তার উপরে শহরটি ফোর্সলি ডিসপ্লেড মায়ানমার
নাগরিকদের (এফডিএমএন) শিবিরে ভারাক্রান্ত। অন্যদিকে জাতীয় মাদকবিরোধী
কমিটির বিগত সভায় কক্সবাজার এলাকায় মাদকবিরোধী বিভিন্ন কার্যক্রম গ্রহণের
সুপারিশ করা হয়। এসব কারণেই এই এরিয়াটিকে প্রকল্প বাস্তবায়নের জন্য বেছে
নেওয়া হয়েছে। প্রকল্পটি তরুণদের এবং তাদের পরিবারের জ্ঞান, দৃষ্টিভঙ্গি
এবং আচরণে প্রমাণ-ভিত্তিক এবং টেকসই পরিবর্তনকে উৎসাহিত করার লক্ষ্যে
বিভিন্ন প্রশিক্ষণ সেশন এবং যোগাযোগ কার্যক্রম সমন্বয় করবে। এর ফলে সমাজে
মাদকের ব্যবহার যথেষ্ট হ্রাস পাবে বলে আশা যায়।
এসময় উক্ত প্রকল্পের প্রকল্প সমন্বয়কারী মোঃ শাহেদুল হক প্রকল্পের
উদ্দেশ্য ও পদ্ধতি সম্পর্কে একটি সংক্ষিপ্ত উপস্থাপনা পেশ করেন। তিনি
উল্লেখ করেন, শিক্ষক-শিক্ষার্থী এবং তাদের পরিবারকে মাদকের উপর নির্ভরশীলতা
ও এর নেতিবাচক প্রভাব এবং মাদকের অপব্যবহারের বিরুদ্ধে সচেতনতা বৃদ্ধির
বিষয়ে বিভিন্ন কার্যক্রম পরিচালনা করা হবে। প্রকল্পটি কক্সবাজার জেলায়
মাদকের হুমকি মোকাবেলায় জ্ঞান, সক্ষমতা ও রেজিলিয়েন্স গড়ে তুলতে সহায়তা
করবে। তিনি আরো বলেন, বাংলাদেশের তরুণদের মধ্যে মাদকদ্রব্যের ব্যবহার একটি
গুরুতর সমস্যা যা সমাজের সকল স্তরের মনোযোগ প্রয়োজন।
অনুষ্ঠানে অংশগ্রহণকারী বিদ্যালয়ের শিক্ষক-শিক্ষার্থী এবং তাদের পরিবারের
সদস্যরা, সাংবাদিক ও স্থানীয় গন্যমান্য ব্যক্তিবর্গ উপস্থিত ছিলেন।

Dhaka Ahsania Mission started anti-narcotics activities in Ukhiya
Dhaka Ahsania Mission started anti-drug awareness raising activities
under the project entitled ‘Enhancing the Capacity of Civil Society to
Prevent Drug Abuse Among the Youth’, in Ukhiya, Cox’s Bazar. The
inauguration ceremony of the project was held on Wednesday (September
20) morning at Pulse Bangladesh Society Training and Resource Center,
Ukhiya.
The project will be implemented in 5 selected schools in Ukhia in
collaboration with the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC)
and the Department of Narcotics Control (DNC). The Deputy Director of
Department of Narcotics Control (DNC) of Cox’s Bazar district, Md. Ruhul
Amin was the chief guest of the inaugural program. Upazila Academic
Supervisor Md. Badrul Alam and Upazila Youth Development Officer Md.
Ayub Ali were the special guests in the meeting.
The Deputy Director, of DNC,Cox’s Bazar district, Md. Ruhul Amin
appreciate the anti-narcotics awareness activities of the Dhaka Ahsania
Mission and said that the Department of Narcotics Control (DNC) will be
work collaborately. These activities will increase awareness of parents
and guardians by adopting family skills programmes. Through this, they
will be able to contribute to anti-drug awareness activities at family
and community level. Besides, students will be involved in anti-drug
activities by empowering themselves and their peers as a group and will
play a role in making the community aware.
Md. Shariful Islam, Project Coordinator of Dhaka Ahsaniya Mission Health
Sector, said in his welcome speech that being a border area Ukhiya is
vulnerable for drug trafficking and abuse. Law enforcement agencies have
recently seized the largest consignment of a synthetic drug in the area
under the name ‘Crystal Ice’. On top of that the city is littered with
camps of Forcefully Displaced Myanmar Nationals (FDMN). On the other
hand, various anti-narcotics activities were recommended in Cox’s Bazar
area in the previous meeting of the National Anti-Narcotics Committee.
This area has been selected for implementation of the project for these
reasons. The project will coordinate various training sessions and
communication activities aimed at promoting evidence-based and
sustainable changes in knowledge, attitudes and behavior of young people
and their families. As a result, drug use in the society is expected to
decrease significantly.
Md. Shahedul Haque, project coordinator of the project, presented a
brief presentation about the project’s objectives and procedures. He
mentioned that various activities will be conducted to raise awareness
among the teachers-students and their families about drug dependence and
its negative effects and against drug abuse. The project will help build
knowledge, capacity and resilience in Cox’s Bazar district to tackle the
menace of drugs. He also said that drug use among the youth of
Bangladesh is a serious problem that needs attention from all levels of
society.
The teachers and students of the schools and their family members,
journalists and local eminent persons were present in the event.
